Highlights for 2023
Las Posadas
Join us on Dec 10 at 4:00 pm. We will be outdoors, so dress warm. We will start in the Good heart Lobby Entrance and travel with Mary and Joseph as they enter Bethlehem and search for a place to have the baby, Jesus. Las Posadas translates to "The Inn". It is a traditional Hispanic event that is celebrated in many states, including Texas (where Deacon Lauren is from). As we journey with Mary and Joseph, we sing songs to comfort them. We carry candles to help light the way (children carry battery operated candles.) We have sombreros and maracas for the first ones to gather. We end the event with a story and singing carols. Then we move to Colhoun for cookies and cocoa. There may be a pinata too!
A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols
Join us on Dec 17 at 5 pm. A tradition at St. Paul’s since 2008, this beloved festival ushers in the season of Christmas. Following the model set forth at King’s College Cambridge, leaders in our parish community are joined by leaders in the greater Winston-Salem community to tell the story of salvation in readings from the scriptures. The choir and congregation respond with favorite carols and anthems of the season. This is one of our special Christmas offerings from St. Paul’s to the Winston-Salem community. Please invite your friends and neighbors to join us.
St. Thomas Service
Join us Dec 20 at 5:30 pm. Celebrating the feast of St. Thomas the Apostle, the doubter, is a time to remember that we are not alone and to draw together toward the light of Christ. We will meditate on God’s love even while we might feel disconnected from the season’s holiday cheer.
4th Sunday of Advent Service
This year, the Fourth Sunday of Advent falls on Dec 24. We will have a worship service for Advent 4 on Dec 24 at 9 am. Please note: This is not a Christmas service!
