The Advent and Christmas season is a time filled with hope, joy, and anticipation. Advent invites us to prepare our hearts and reflect as we journey toward the celebration of Christ’s birth. We’ve planned many opportunities to connect, celebrate, and grow together this holiday season. We’d love for you to join us and make this season even more special!

A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols
Join us on Dec 22 at 5 pm. A tradition at St. Paul’s since 2008, this beloved festival ushers in the season of Christmas. Following the model set forth at King’s College Cambridge, leaders in our parish community are joined by leaders in the greater Winston-Salem community to tell the story of salvation in scripture readings. The choir and congregation respond with favorite carols and anthems of the season. This is one of our unique Christmas offerings from St. Paul’s to the Winston-Salem community. St. Thomas Service
Join us Dec 18 at 5:30 pm. Celebrating the feast of St. Thomas the Apostle, the doubter, is a time to remember that we are not alone and draw together toward Christ's light. We will meditate on God’s love even when we feel disconnected from the season’s holiday cheer. Learn more >
All Upcoming Advent & Christmas Events
Christmas Eve Services Tues, Dec 24 at 11 am, 3 pm, 5 pm, and 11 pm in the Nave. God, you have caused this holy night to shine with the brightness of the true Light! Let’s worship together on one of the most important days of the year. The children’s pageant will be at 11 am this year with three additional services at 3, 5, and 11 pm. Both the 11 am and 5 pm services will be live-streamed. There is incense at the 11 pm service.
The Christmas Pageant Tues, Dec 24 at 11 am in the Nave. Join us for one of the most beautiful and fun services on Christmas Eve. All children are invited to participate. They can choose from angels, shepherds or animals. We have the costumes. Costuming starts at 10:15 am. The pageant starts at 11 am. Mary and Joseph are chosen from our Sunday Christian Formation classes (students who attend regularly). Lead shepherds, angels and animals are from our Daring Disciples. We need parents to help with costuming. Please contact Deacon Lauren if you would like to help. We generally have about 70 children in this pageant to help tell us the story of the first nativity. Holy Eucharist for Christmas Day Wed, Dec 25 at 10 am in the Nave. We will worship together today, in one service at 10 am. Please note that this service is in-person only. Learn more >

Historic West End Holiday Home Tours Sun, Dec 8 from 1-5 pm beginning at Joymongers. St. Paul’s is excited to be part of this tradition going back to 1976. In addition to St. Paul’s, the tour includes eight historic West End homes and Joyner’s Grocery. Tickets for the event can be purchased on the day of the event for $25 or online in advance for $20. St. Nicholas Festival Sun, Dec 8 at 3:30 pm in Colhoun B and the Chapel. We will learn and celebrate the saint who later became known as Santa Claus. He might even make a visit. Activities for all ages. We will be in Colhoun A.
Decorating with Winter Greenery Sat, Dec 7 at 10 am in the Youth Room. Join Betsy Overton and others for this fun holiday workshop. Bring clippers and a medium-sized container or vase to create your own holiday arrangement to take home. Tickets cost $30 per adult; $40 for adult and 1 child; $50 for adult and 2+ children. The admission fee includes greenery, flowers, florist supplies, and light refreshments. Proceeds benefit the Center for Hope Family Shelter. Reserve your spot now! Feast of Lights Sun, Jan 5 at 5 pm in the Nave. Join us for this unique service. An annual tradition at St. Paul’s since 1927, this pageant depicts the Magi’s visit to the Christ child and the spreading of his light throughout the world.
