Seniors
Roses Ministry
For many years, St. Paul’s Senior Adults Ministry sponsored a visitation ministry to serve home-bound parishioners, but in 2012, with the help of volunteer Pat Marquardt, the program acquired a new name and a renewed focus.
Pat started ROSES—Reach Out and Serve Episcopal Seniors—soon after joining St. Paul’s. She had started a similar program in 2004 at her church in Dallas, Texas, drawing on her career in home health and hospice care and her training as a Stephen Minister.
The St. Paul’s program is a joint effort of the Senior Adults and Stephen Ministries.
After attending an orientation session, volunteer visitors may make the first visit with Pat. Visits are typically made monthly and last from 30 minutes to an hour. ROSES visitors also meet with Pat and Senior Adults Minister Anne Rahn every six weeks.
If you are interested in becoming a ROSES visitor, contact Pat at (336) 923-8089. If you know someone who would benefit from visits, contact Anne Rahn at (336) 723-4797.
