St. Paul’s is looking for a dynamic, inventive, and entrepreneurial individual to nurture and develop our thriving youth and children’s music programs. This position, which reports directly to the Rector, will make a significant contribution to all worship leadership at St. Paul’s, working with the Rector, the Director of Music for Adult Choirs/Organist and the rest of our staff team to lead the youth and children’s music program at St. Paul’s.

The Master of the Choristers & Schola (MCS) will be responsible for music during our weekly 9:00 am liturgy during the program year. In addition, the MCS will plan and execute weekly youth choir rehearsals using the Royal School of Church Music Voice for Life curriculum, organize music activities for children and youth (RSCM camps, participation in local and international choral residencies, festivals, etc.), and collaborate with the Organist/Director of Music for Adult Choir in leading shared services. The Director of Music for Adult Choirs/Organist and the MCS will collaborate to steward the strong tradition of music at St. Paul’s while innovating to offer a whole-parish music program that is inspiring and responsive to the needs and gifts of the parish.

We are looking for someone who loves God, loves children, and loves to teach youth and children how to worship God through song in the Anglican liturgical tradition. For this reason, skills in choral training and conducting, building community, recruitment, and communication are essential, as is an orientation toward innovation in the context of tradition. We hope to see our youth choirs, parents, and the congregation educated about the musical, liturgical, and theological dimensions of their Christian formation. This is a full-time, salaried position, and includes pension and health insurance benefits. As a key leadership position, it is built for someone who wants to grow and develop over the long term. We anticipate a start date of Advent 1.

To apply, please get the conversation started by sending your resume and a letter of interest to the rector, care of the rector’s executive assistant, Betsy Reiners (breiners@stpauls-ws.org)
