The Lantern Initiative: Pilgrimage to England and Scotland

‍Join us September 12-25, 2024, for a life-changing experience of pilgrimage, travel, and small group ministry.   Two concurrent groups will travel through the ancient Northumbrian regions of England and Scotland, and explore the Christian faith through the eyes of the medieval saints.  One group will visit the ruins and cathedrals of Hexham, Bamburgh Castle, the Camino Ingles, Hartlepool and Whitby, while the second group will hike the Way of St. Cuthbert along the border of Scotland.  The two groups will meet for retreat time together at the Holy Island at Lindisfarne and conclude our time together in Durham.  Leading up to the trip, the groups will participate in small group formation, study of the region and its history, and take a deep dive into the spiritual practice of pilgrimage.

Group 1: In the Footsteps of the Northern Saints, led by Dixon Kinser

- 12 nights accommodation in Edinburgh, Newcastle, Holy Island & Durham incl. breakfast

Group 2: Hiking the Way of St. Cuthbert, led by Sara and Mark Ardrey-Graves

- 12 nights accommodation in Edinburgh, along St. Cuthbert’s Way, Holy Island & Durham incl. breakfast

- Packed lunches for each day of the hike, organized by the previous night’s lodging
- Transportation & transfers within the UK during your trip (except parts of St. Cuthbert’s Way)

- Transfers between walking trails if required during St. Cuthbert’s Way element

- Luggage transfers
