After growing up in Winston-Salem, he attended the University of South Carolina, Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry and the School of Theology at Sewanee. He has served parishes in Pittsburgh and Nashville and holds a Doctor of Ministry in disability theology from Duke Divinity School.
